Title: Director of Marketing

Company: Off-price fragrance license company

Location: NYC


Under the direction of the Global Vice President, position is responsible for the long-term global brand and product development on a worldwide basis as well as U.S. Domestic Trade Marketing across all channels. To understand needs of brand; develop strategy and vision, initiate briefs of new projects; interact with the internal support teams, international and domestic sales ; and to follow through development to first production run to launch.  

Collaborate with the VP to develop global brand strategies and make recommendations for the fiscal year including marketing objectives, strategies and tactics that are consistent with company goals.
Ensure timely execution limited life products and collateral programs for global launches.  Supervises paperwork including:  MDR, Licensor Approval Forms, Creative Requests, Forecast Changes and Copy Sheets. Drives support program development ensuring all components are on time and within budget.  
Provide mentoring and coaching on an ongoing basis to Associate Manager.
Work with Creative and outside agencies to ensure that Point-of-Sale and Advertising material is developed to support both basic and new launch business. Initiate new requests and drive development to ensure that Creative is aware of all copy/layout direction. Review all layout, merchandising and product artwork submissions.
Oversee development of marketing project sheets and brand calendars to offer clear direction on brand strategy and new product launches to International Marketing and Domestic Sales. Follow up and analyze forecasts placed for new product launches to ensure that they meet objectives.
Establish cost objectives for new items and feasibilities.  Analyzes cost of goods for all items (products, gift sets, promotional items, etc.) ensuring alignment with COG target. Makes recommendations to the existing line, based on reformulation, repackaging or value analysis needs.
Prepare presentation materials of brand marketing plans for Sales, Licensor, Distributor and Retailer meetings and participates in the presentation where possible. 
Partner with domestic sales administration, international and forecast teams to ensure accurate forecasts are in the system.  Oversee product tracking as it hits the warehouse and monitor shipping and inventory levels.  Develop strategies for excess inventory utilization.
Collaborate on fragrance brief and evaluate new fragrance, ancillary and scent strip submissions.  Work closely with fragrance house contacts to adhere to timelines.
Build relationship with key licensor contacts to generate trust and continue close collaboration.


Position requires 8-10 years in global brand development, trade marketing, fragrance development or related experience.
Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit. A self-motivator that is flexible, proactive, determined and reacts effectively to change in a fast-paced environment.
 Team player with the ability to build, foster and nurture strong relationships with members of cross-functional, licensor, international and domestic sales teams.
Very quality oriented with a refined sense of detail and a creative flair; sensitivity to beauty, products, packaging, fashion and design.
 Out of the box conceptual thinker, curious, open, enthusiastic, and energetic with strong communication and inter-personal skills.
International experience or understanding of foreign markets a plus
 Analytical with financial acumen and PC proficient; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
