Our client, a Fine Menswear Manufacturer in New York City, is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to join their team.

This company develops tailored menswear clothing (sportswear and dress shirts) for select retailers and iconic brands. As the Director of Sales, you will oversee all sales functions for the company’s brands and achieve established sales and earnings targets. Your strong sales acumen and expertise in buying and product development will ensure your success in this multifaceted role.


  • Responsible for achieving sales and earnings targets for the companies owned brands
  • Leads development of overall direction of brands sales strategy
  • Partners with design to assist in product development process
  • Makes sales presentations to all levels of senior management to get placements and funding
  • Analyze retail performance weekly at the store, style and color level in all accounts
  • Creates and implements critical action plans to achieve retail sales plans
  • Once established, manages entire account structure consisting of all department stores in the United States, Canada and International
  • Identify, investigate and take action on sales opportunities by store, style and classification
  • Collects, analyzes and negotiates monthly profitability with each account
  • Work with merchandiser and designers on product lines to ensure needs of major accounts are covered
  • Leads sales meetings with each account, offering next generation product/fabric options
  • Presents cohesive merchandise presentations with materials and market information pertaining to each individual account’s needs
  • Manage and follow up with each account for order placements and price negotiations
  • Interface with operations and finance regarding production, logistics, shipping and price issues
  • Travel to each account once or twice a season
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • At least 10+ years of experience
  • Background in buying and product development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising
  • Strong understanding of retail math
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and juggle competing priorities
