My client is a highly successful family owned business for multiple generations in the apparel industry.They continue to post year over year growth through their mission to bring top tier products to national retailers by way of expert design, sourcing, quality and speed to market.They are located in New York City and in need of a Licensing Manager.
Candidates with licensing experience in apparel, accessories or other consumer products either as the licensee or licensor will be considered for the position.Those with similar license and retail channel experience as my client, a licensee of a wide range of licenses including Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros. and Dreamworks sold to multiple channels of retail from mass to mid tier, department stores and clubs, will be of most interest.
Primary responsibilities for the Licensing Manager are to drive collaboration with the retail channels, day to day management of the licensing team, licensor approvals, sales/royalty reporting and analysis to insure license contractual obligations are met.
The Licensing Manager will manage styleguides to assure the design team has necessary assets and attend product development meetings to ensure product strategies are consistent with business objectives.They will also be a key liaison with the licensors and research new categories and potential licensing partners.
A well qualified candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, project management experience, exceptional computer skills including Excel spreadsheets and specific knowledge in licensor/licensee process and procedures.
•Work directly with the creative team to be sure all licensed art is approved according to guidelines prior to submission
•Submit all designs and samples for licensor approvals
•Manage all communication between the licensor and creative team
•Work with Licensor for delivery of packaging, sales collateral and promotions
•Provide licensor with sales data
•Arrange all meetings and phone calls with licensors and provide recaps to all relevant parties
•Update the product matrix to communicate what properties and categories can be sold to which accounts and communicate internally and to the licensors
•Create appropriate time and action calendars for licensors, sales and production for the timely receipt of styleguides, samples, orders and production to ensure a seamless work flow from start to finish
- College degree strongly preferred
- Similar project management experience in a consumer products environment either specific to licensing, product management or sales role
- Strong computer skills particularly in regards to creating spreadsheets, project management and presentations
- Extremely articulate and organized with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
