Profile

Designed in Santa Barbara and made in LA, Catherine Gee embodies a timeless yet contemporary collection of strong pieces with elegant, modern lines. The mediterranean climate of Santa Barbara is a prominent influence in Gee’s designs. It is from this perspective that she draws her fluid slip dress silhouettes cut from lustrous silks. She looks to European art and design for inspiration.

Catherine Gee is a Chinese American artist and designer from two generations of career artists.  After graduating from Sewanee: The University of the South with a degree in Fine Arts and Art History, Catherine began her career in the administrative arts and arts education ultimately transitioning to the more creative side in fashion after refining her illustration skills studying under mentor, Jodi De Marcos. In 2016, Catherine Gee launched her eponymous collection which is sold at boutiques across the US. In October 2016, Catherine Gee was announced the winner of the 2016 WWDMAGIC and Galeries Lafayette (Paris) Emerging Designer Crème de la Crème competition. Since that time Catherine's slip dresses, a core part of the business, have been featured in two VOGUE.com pieces  highlighting the iconic staple by new designers.
