Job description

As Accounting Director , APLA Source-To-Pay, you'll be part of a team that is driving Nike's international business growth through the APLA Geography. While mastering and executing the fundamentals will be critical, your ability to operate in a dynamic environment and work effectively with a variety of partners will also be crucial. You'll need a strategic mentality, a bias toward action and change, and a commitment to drive excellence.
We are seeking experience with Purchase-To-Pay or Accounts Payable operations, and financial acumen. You will be an effective communicator and have the ability to work seamlessly across cultures and remote locations and have an ability to navigate ambiguity. You will have demonstrated abilities in building collaborative business relationships, a passion for delivering operational excellence, continuous improvement in processes and a strategic approach to problem solving.
As the Director of APLA Source-to-Pay, you will help drive the development of a globally integrated and well controlled Purchase-To-Pay operations offense for various indirect spend categories to enable the commercial and operational strategies of the company. You will lead APLA in transition from today's decentralized, country-specific tools and processes to a new center-led operating model with global tools, policies and processes. This role is responsible for maintaining strong internal controls, provide timely, accurate, and relevant information to internal and external partners, and deliver expert business partnership to enable profitable growth while balancing risk. This will include establishing centralized governance and expertise and will require dynamic and influential leadership of direct and virtual teams as well as with business and operational partners. In partnership with Global Source-To-Pay Operations, Procurement and Technology, you will influence actions to strengthen upstream contracting, vendor management and purchasing processes and controls in order to implement a holistic source-to-pay offense, driven through an end-to-end process.
Responsibilities of this role include:
Process Excellence and Transformation
- Establish a strategic operating model including clear roles and responsibilities over Indirect Spend.
- Contribute to the design of global processes and systems, and is responsible for the implementation of a new, global operating model in APLA.
- Facilitate implementation of the Coupa tool in APLA in partnership with Technology, Procurement, Global Source-To-Pay and APLA Territories.
- Implement and execute APLA Purchase-To-Pay operations performance measurement through the use and monitoring of KPIs and other measurements.
- Complete and maintain payable and disbursement method landscape, inclusive of all primary and non-primary as well as exception methods. Use data gathered to resolve areas of risk and opportunity for the geography for input into the global strategy.
- In alignment with the global Source-To-Pay strategy and roadmap, determine the geography-specific roadmap, inclusive of geography independent and global dependent actions and achievements.
- Support Nike, Inc. financial shared services and Enterprise Cash Flow Forecast Initiative objectives
- Align with upstream procurement initiatives to implement an end-to-end Source-to-Pay offense
Source-to-Pay Operations
- Lead aspects of and ensure vendor payments are performed timely through various payment channels across the geography
- Enable greater standardization of "pay" activities, including policy awareness, system access, and process simplification
- Work collaboratively across Territory and Global Technology on tech-related items that are critical dependencies on the Source-To-Pay processes
- Drive geography compliance with Source-To-Pay policies and internal controls
Reporting to the APLA Geography Controller and working closely with the Source-To-Pay Global Process Owner, this is an important role to both leaders. Residing at APLA Headquarters, you will lead a HQ-based team with the function of serving and supporting Territory Controllers as a regional center of excellence. In addition, this role works with business partners in Procurement, Legal, Technology, Finance Operations, Global Controlling and APLA Financial Planning.


- 8+ years' experience in the P2P Operations or Accounts Payable team at a large, complex, multi-national company, with at least 2 years in a Director role or above. Direct experience in Asia Pacific and/or Latin America preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory capacity leading both people and projects. Large scale systems implementation experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience driving complex, varied transformations spanning process, organizational design, and tools/systems changes in a dynamic and growing business environment. Includes experience inspiring change from a highly decentralized function and process to a more strategic, center-led offense and shared-services model.
- Demonstrated strong skills with high-profile and cross-cultural communications spanning all time zones across the globe. Skills include excellent verbal and written communication of complex and/or sensitive topics and concepts; meeting facilitation; effective communication on status, issues, risks and opportunities with senior leadership team.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and measure success through metrics.
- Proficiency with SAP (or other major) ERP required
- Proficiency with Coupa strongly preferred
- Experience with continuous improvement and/or LEAN-related concepts and change management. LEAN certification preferred.
- Experience with process automation software is a plus
- Ability to do some international travel, when permitted by Nike
