Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced product management professional to join the Marketing Operations space and lead the discovery, definition, and agile development of internal customer tools. This product manager will balance the needs of merchant and marketing users with business goals and technical solutions, focusing on large-scale integrations to replace systems and processes that govern our content management lifecycle.
It is important that this product manager understands how system enhancements change business processes, and that they are able to articulate current state processes, identify gaps or pain points in the workflow, and recognize future state needs. Additionally, the interconnected nature of the work will involve isolating impacts to upstream and downstream systems, understanding data flows between systems, and making tradeoffs between technology and process solutions.
As product owner, you will work collaboratively with design, technology, and cross-functional stakeholders at all stages of the product lifecycle. You will be accountable for tracking emerging trends, socializing the product vision at all levels of the organization, assessing opportunities with subject matter experts, and implementing solutions with design and development teams. You will partner closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions are fully leveraged by the business, balancing scope, business needs, level of effort, and time to market.
Core Competencies: metadata taxonomies, content delivery for digital consumer channels (headless CMS integrations), testing frameworks and experimentation, content orchestration and decisioning, business processes for content creation and delivery, analytics for internal customer tools and consumer facing products.
Essential Functions
- Use curiosity, data, and analytical rigor every day to create concise, compelling points of view around product and technology solutions, backlog prioritization, business tradeoffs, and more.
- Keep aware of the competitive Martech landscape and internal gaps in order to identify opportunities, build business cases, and socialize new ideas with leadership for approval.
- Define feature KPIs, baselines, and targets that are measurable and attainable, tying back to the business case through financial impact and benefits statements.
- Gather input from a variety of internal and external sources to define product requirements with special emphasis on impact to internal applications and related business processes.
- Partner on agile delivery and scrum processes with the development team leads, owning user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog prioritization, UAT, showcasing, and story signoff.
- Understand that your products deeply impact business processes: solutions should foster workflow efficiencies and include partnerships to produce comprehensive training/rollout plans.
- Manage expectations at all stages of the product lifecycle through clear communication, persuasive narratives, effective presentations, and solution-oriented conversations.
- All functions of this job require you to work in a complex, matrixed organization. Foresight into potential dependencies and risks, as well as formulation of mitigations, will be crucial.
- BA/BS Degree required
- 3-5 years' experience in one or more of the following areas: product management; agile software development, or another product ownership role; business process development, consulting role
- Omni-channel retail marketing experience strongly preferred with some or all of the following functions:
- Content Management Systems
- Digital Asset Management
- Experience with large-scale software integrations for internal customer systems, including change management for business and technology processes on top of product delivery
Communication Skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (spoken, written)
- Ability to distill complex ideas into concise, consumable explanations
- Be able to effectively articulate internal jargon and processes to external partners
Reasoning Ability:
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions with the best data available
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and negotiation skills
Additional Skills:
- Team player who is a self-starter, independent, and has a bias toward action; able to thrive in fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems
- Ability to learn and grasp new concepts quickly
- Creative, open to new ideas
Work Hours:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
