Job description

As an Associate Demand Planner, this role will manage demand forecasts of replenishment product for an assigned family of business. They will monitor forecast accuracy and perform analysis on large volumes of data, gaining insights on recent selling trends and historical seasonality patterns. There will be a focus on continuous improvement, reducing forecast error and improving service levels. They will collaborate with their demand planning peers on best practices and standardizing forecast methodologies.
The Demand Planning Associate will collaborate with their Inventory Manager counterpart on changes to promotions and assortment. As forecasts are updated, they will need to reconcile changes and back them up with analysis and data. They will build partnerships across Data Science, Merchandising, Marketing and other cross functional teams.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor and improve sales forecasts for an assigned family of business
- Fine tune parameters of statistical forecast algorithms to optimize accuracy
- Analyze historical selling to refine and improve seasonal selling models
- Leverage reporting to identify category and location level selling trends, determine best course of action to take in the system
- Meet regularly with Inventory Manager counterparts, presenting results on forecast accuracy and planned improvements
- Ensure changes to marketing and assortment are accounted for in forecasts
- Partner with data science on improvements to forecasting methodologies, new product introduction, season profiles, etc.
- Inspires, motivates, and influences the behavior of others to drive high performance.

- 3-5 years related experience
- Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
- Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.
- Advanced Proficiency with MS Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables; macros and VBA coding
- Experience with a statistical based demand forecasting application, Teradata DCM, JDA Blue Yonder Demand or similar
- Familiarity with statistical concepts commonly used in forecasting and forecast accuracy KPI (bias, MAPE, MAD, etc.)
