Associate Manager, Retention Marketing

Job description

The Associate Manager, Retention Marketing is responsible for development of a rich strategy and execution of email campaigns for PacSun. The associate will work closely with another Associate Manager, Retention Marketing & the Sr. Manager, Retention Marketing, as well as cross functional partners within e-commerce, digital marketing, campaign management, merchandising, and IT in the planning and implementation of our leading-edge retention marketing programs.
Core Accountabilities:
- Development of email strategy, calendar, & testing plan
- Forecast & set performance goals for email channel
- Manage budget for email channel
- Lead & implement changes within the email channel
- Select messaging & copy for campaigns within the email channel
- Ideation of content strategy, incremental campaigns and promotions within the email channel, and leverage input of cross-functional partners to execute
- Assist with bounce back promotion coordination within the email channel
- Build, deploy, maintain and optimize batch sends, resend strategy, automations and journeys within the email platforms
- Build, deploy and maintain automated transactional and triggered emails related purchases, customer service, loyalty program and lifecycle/behavioral email program
- Execute and report on A/B tests within channels and optimize based on learnings
- Create and manage segmentation strategy within the email platforms and optimize based on testing and performance
- Update triggered/automated lifecycle triggers seasonally or as needed to support promo strategy
- Own reporting & analysis of campaign and channel performance, sharing insights and recommendations for improvement based on email KPIs
- Test and QA email campaigns to ensure quality and deliverability
- Manage email vendor relationships and ensure we meet milestones within our roadmap
- Work with BI team to pull segments needed to support campaigns
- Monitor deliverability with Return Path and work with necessary teams to resolve any issues that may occur
- Help identify inaccurate or incomplete data and proactively work with team members to cleanse and enhance the database
- Knowledge of email best practices, deliverability, CAN-SPAM legislation, email success metrics
- Monitor and track competitor email programs
- Own and partner with vendors on IP warming plans as needed


Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field
- At least 5 years working in a retail/ecommerce environment
- At least 3 years of experience building campaigns with an Email Service Provider in a self-service model; Experience with Salesforce and Bluecore is a plus
- HTML coding skills is a plus
- Knowledge of email best practices, deliverability, CAN-SPAM legislation, email success metrics
- Sharp analytic, quantitative skills and financial acumen, with a desire to learn and grow.
- Ability to report on campaign results and make data-driven recommendations and decisions
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, switching focus as necessary to accommodate deadlines and priorities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, implementing last-minute changes as needed
- Demonstrated ability to manage a large number of marketing campaigns and programs simultaneously
- Excellent project management, organizational skills, and a keen eye for details
- Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions and the judgment to know when to seek guidance.
- Knowledge of SMS best practices

- Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
- Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
- Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
