Converse Designers combine relentless curiosity and passion for street style and sport to transform the insights of our consumers into innovations that advance the independent spirit of youth. The Global Design & Innovation Team is a diverse community with a broad set of expertise in Consumer Insights, Innovation, Footwear Design, Apparel Design, Accessory Design, Color Design, Graphic Design, Material Design, and Design Operations. We work collaboratively across the Converse brand in order to deliver meaningful concepts to our consumer in brand, product and experience.
The Global Senior Creative Director of Apparel & Accessories will be part of the Global Design and Innovation Team, based at Converse headquarters in Boston, MA. This role will report to the Global VP Design & Innovation / Creative Director and lead the Global Apparel & Accessories Design teams through creative direction, creative strategy and leadership at a product, category and brand level. You will work with the product creation team by providing consumer relevant design solutions based on inspiration from fashion, street culture, art & design, technology and sport as well as from consumer and marketplace data. The Sr Director, expertly balances strategic, creative thinking with the responsibility of leading a team of innovative, hard-working designers with a unique background of abilities and skills. You are not afraid to engage in hands-on exploration and prototyping. You enjoy concepting as well as obsessing every detail to guarantee a rich product experience. Your enthusiasm, interpersonal skills and deep well of design and leadership expertise plays a big role in elevating the design excellence at Converse!
Leads and directs the Global Apparel & Accessories design team; providing concept direction, vision, business acuity, and critical evaluation of projects effecting Converse's product excellence, category direction, and business strategies on a global basis.
Determines, innovates, and evolves creative design philosophy and strategies consistent with Converse design ethos. Shares outcomes and provides motivation and inspiration to design staff and matrix partners.
Works cross-functionally to define & lead the Creative roadmap, from Kick-off to Go-To-Market, with integrated key landmarks that align with company strategic imperatives.
Serves as a contributing member of the Converse Design & Innovation Leadership team through dynamic, visible, and inspirational strategic creative leadership and collaboration.
Oversees and reviews project/product design, vision, goals, and mission of Design groups, relating that direction to Converse business strategy.
Coordinates and links creative and design groups to ensure a cohesive unit that delivers a consistent design message.
Directs, leads, and develops a creative and responsive design management team. Creates an atmosphere that cultivates innovative thinking, collaboration, empathy, openness and partnership.
Develops and maintains an understanding of divisional business goals while operating collaboratively with business and marketing partners to enhance design team effectiveness. Participates and influences content of business plans and budget.
Communicates Converse's design philosophy to the public and strengthens ties with outside design community through presentations and speeches.


- Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent combination of education and experience and training.
- Minimum of 10 years dynamically technically sophisticated experience in product design roles with a demonstrated focus and success in Apparel, including at least 5 years progressively responsible leadership roles.
- Experienced level management skills coupled with the ability to optimize people, processes and craft
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in global market language, including meeting facilitation and presentations across multiple locations and timezones. Proven ability to efficiently communicate complex and/or critical topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
- Ability to effectively elevate strategic concerns to senior management in a timely and accurate manner. Strong ability to develop high-profile, influential, and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and geographies.
- Sound judgment and ability to contribute meaningfully to the determination of policy and strategy.
- Ability to motivate others, deal with ambiguity, and effectively collaborate in decision-making.
