WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike's Global Brand Imaging division is looking for a transformational Design Director to lead daily photographic production and design output at its global flagship studio in Los Angeles. As part of the Brand Imaging creative team, you directly impact the public face of one of the world's most coveted and recognizable brands! You will be responsible for producing the complete catalog of visual assets for an assortment of up to 125,000 products per year, to be featured in product detail pages, seasonal campaigns, and marketing materials across Nike's website, apps, and social media initiatives. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
The outstanding candidate will have diverse and well-rounded skills across fashion image making for both stills and video, crafting inspirational, modern content while collaborating with a team. You can empower creative teams while producing elevated e-commerce imagery, translating briefs into inspiring creative direction. You are an exceptional presenter and visual communicator with demonstrated success translating objectives by balancing quality with efficiency.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will Help drive the visual identity and quality standards of all creative assets produced by Global Brand Imaging. As a champion of a premium brand experience, you will ensure every photograph and video we produce is authentic, distinctive, and 100% Nike. Working across the enterprise, partnering closely and regularly with Marketing Teams and with Brand Design to uphold a premium brand strategy consistently across platforms, channels, and marketplaces. Orchestrating studio teams with complex diversified goals across all product categories.
You Provide clear, concise on-set direction; bring expert experience to photo shoots and effectively direct a crew from start to finish, including the building of mood-boards, awareness to on-brand casting, hair and make-up briefing, mood (look & feel), styling, lighting, shot selection, etc.
You encourage and engage a team of art directors and designers, providing daily on-set supervision as well as mentoring their growth over the long term. In addition to all external consumer-facing assets, the Design Director will maintain the internal visual identity of the Imaging division, crafting and laying out business-critical communications to the company's senior executives on the status of key Imaging projects and seasonal directives.

Profile

WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor/Master degree in Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Deep subject matter expertise in the design and photography industry is a must
- 6 - 8 years in commercial photography management roles, with specific creative oversight responsibility for the ongoing daily production of merchandise detail pages for digital commerce
- 5+ years leading teams of individual art directors, photographers, stylists, and other typical on-set crew members, both fulltime and freelance
- Proven, outstanding talent for understanding both performance and lifestyle sportswear, authoring new brand creative directions, and the ability to make those ideas a reality on set every day
- Online portfolio that demonstrates broad experience leading brand strategy and visual presentation for both on-figure apparel photography and still-life (off-figure) photography
- Deep and demonstrable experience with on-set standards, best practices, and demands
- An instinctual dedication to trends and emerging brands, with an insider's perspective on the apparel and footwear markets
Preferred Qualifications:
- Broad experience across retail, editorial, and advertising sectors of apparel industry
- Organizational experience at management level
- Commercial reel to supplement still photography portfolio
- Working relationships with agencies, designers, and individual stylists in New York, Los Angeles, and other major apparel industry centers
- Demonstrated project experience with lean production methodologies, organizational change, and continuous improvement / kaizen
