Job description

Who Are We Looking For
We are looking for a Design Engineering Director to focus on delivering new capabilities, tools, and processes. This role will lead a team of professional design engineers and drive strategic business initiatives to reduce complexity and unlock speed from CAD through tool builds. This leader will be responsible for maximizing the potential of the team through consistent mentoring, training, and opportunities for professional development.
The right person for this role will bring strong, effective team leadership experience, fostering teamwork and leading and embracing change. They will have experience in tooling design, tool fabrication and manufacturing.
What You Will Work On
This person will lead a team of Design Engineers whose responsibilities include design engineering for product development, process advancement and design for tool builds. They will provide technical guidance to the team and manage priorities to address resource and operational challenges. They will be responsible for driving advancements and utilization of our world class CAD, PDM and CAM software packages to stay on the forefront of the industry while delivering speed through automations.
Who You Will Work With
This role will sit on the Engineering Innovation leadership team reporting to the Sr. Director of Innovation at Air MI. You will work closely with other Design and Tooling Engineering Leaders on the same leadership team to collaborate on global business and team goals. This person will work closely with other cross-functional technical leaders at Air MI including process engineering, quality engineering, automation engineering, cost engineering, industrial engineering, and tech engineering. They will work closely with our external vendors and partners to ensure we are maximizing our CAD, PDM and CAM software packages to improve our methods and business systems to streamline our work.


What You Will Bring
- Education/experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or a relatable field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
- 8+ years' experience in manufacturing or engineering
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Engineering leader who can recruit top talent and build teams that deliver results.
- Ability to delegate and hold team accountable for results
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and leading teams through change
- Proven ability to interact with all levels, partnering, facilitating, and influencing
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey complex information in a simple, easily understood manner to diverse groups of stakeholders
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
