Job description

General Summary: The Director of Digital Marketing Brand Strategy will serve as a key leader within the marketing team, working to articulate, craft, and drive brand strategies, initiatives, programs. This role is responsible for the development & subsequent alignment of business driving strategies that ladder back to key organizational objectives, with a strong lens towards digital growth, evolution and expansion of market share. This position leads a team focused on bringing channel agnostic marketing strategies to life through brand positioning initiatives, key messaging strategies & seasonal/thematic campaign planning. This is a highly influencial role that requires appropriate strategic guidance to digital marketing channel owners to enable those teams to support the business accordintly.
Reports to: AVP, Digital Marketing Brand Strategy & Loyalty
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Brand & Messaging Strategy
Be a champion for the customer by representing qualitative and quantitative insights to influence brand strategy, positioning, messaging
Translate business strategies into integrated & effective marketing plans, campaigns, and experiences that fuel brand awareness and foster customer engagement
Collaborate with Creative and Channel Marketing teams to ensure brand positioning and messaging consistency are represented in customer-facing assets
Identify whitespace marketing opportunities that differentiate the BBW brand in the marketplace, recommending programs, partners & initiatives that fuel customer engagement
Assess market competitiveness via competitor monitoring and make recommendations accordingly, identifying gaps in customer experience and build go-to-market strategies to solve
Primary strategy partner with Stores Marketing, responsible for aligning strategic priorities and tasked with seeing through to execution
Seasonal & Thematic Marketing Strategy
Develop integrated seasonal and thematic marketing campaigns, messages, and activations which are grounded in key business initiatives and effectively drive revenue growth and brand awareness
Identify strategic priorities for a given season by collaborating with senior leadership across business functions, integrating priorities into marketing campaigns and messaging
Provide strategic guidance to key internal & external stakeholders, including appropriate collaboration with Creative on seasonal creative goals & objectives
Collaborate with key stakeholders to lead the creation of new & innovative top-of-funnel engagement activations for each season which differentiate the BBW brand from competition and drive appropriate consumer response
Monitor, analyze, and measure the effectiveness of internal campaign performance and external brand competition to develop actional insights in real time, short term, and long term
Responsible for Seasonal Hindsight, leading the process of insight collection, summarizing results/learnings, and developing actionable recommendations for future seasons
Special Projects (as assigned)
Participate in annual roadmap planning, identifying opportunities to drive innovation and growth within digital channels
Serve as Marketing Strategy lead for identified special projects and brand customer-facing programs (i.e. BOPIS, Win at Christmas, etc.)
Effectively & appropriately collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on project objectives and deliver brand elevating, customer-focused solutions

Required Skills and Competencies:
Ability to clearly articulate and execute strategic vision, influence decisions, and drive leadership consensus
Ability to think innovatively and creatively and change course if necessary, to achieve desired results
Executive-level communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to craft & deliver presentations / recommendations that resonate with audiences and further brand strategy's impact on the business
Results-oriented with a strong ability to lead & influence key partners, manage project queue and meet deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneiously and priorities focus for self and team
Comfort with delegation, along with the savvy to know when to get more deeply involved
Experience providing direction to marketing agency partners and external vendors
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong management and employee development skills

Profile

Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in Digital Marketing & Brand Strategy within the retail industry
Experience leading and managing direct report(s)
Bachelor's Degree required with a degree in marketing, communications, or related field
