Job description

Macy's is launching a Marketplace and we are seeking a Director, Marketplace Seller Acquisition & Business Development who will lead, hire, and craft a strategy for a team dedicated launching and growing a Marketplace that accelerates Macy's Inc. Fashion and Style leadership ambitions. This leader will bring their deep expertise and knowledge of Marketplaces to develop, define and drive the strategy of our Marketplace across Macy's and Bloomingdale's, translating merchant strategy into clear execution via a Marketplace platform. The Director will lead the development and execution of this strategy pre and post Marketplace launch. Internally, this individual will work closely with Merchant, Digital, and Marketplace leadership to drive alignment on new business development opportunities and goals. Externally, this role will work to recruit sellers to the platform that match our strategy. In addition, this Director will have the opportunity to create an entrepreneurially driven organization and build their team from the ground up.
This role is responsible for seller acquisition and onboarding, the primary driver of Marketplace revenue generation and sustainable growth. A leader will properly align goals and financial ambitions to optimize growth while maintaining and enhancing customer experience. This Director will develop and execute on a clear strategy on category entry, seller recruitment, and assortment curation. This leader will hire, develop and train a team exceed Marketplace goals.
Essential Functions
- Define, establish, and execute the strategy behind the category, curation, and merchandising strategy for our Marketplace, recruiting the right set of strategic sellers to enhance Macy's Inc. customer experience.
- Hire a Seller Acquisition & Business Development team comprised of top talent and capable of executing an ambitious marketplace growth strategy.
- Drive the seller recruitment strategy, defining the ways Macy's Inc. can serve the seller community in a differentiated way.
- Partner cross-functionally to align on goals, seller strategy, and long-term strategic vision.
- Partner closely with the Merchant organization to translate merchant ambitions into executable actions through a marketplace platform.
- Drive growth strategy and plan, keeping a pulse on competitors and keeping Macy's at the forefront of marketplace strategy. Report on progress and financial performance.
- Develop deep knowledge of the Macy's brand and customers to ensure the marketplace reflects appropriately.
- Determine the right goals, metrics, training, and development opportunities are in place for the recruitment and onboarding team.
