Director, Product Integrity - New Business Development

Job description

This position typically will have direct and indirect reports of varying levels of managers and individual contributors
Leadership position responsible for developing the strategy to administer product integrity to assure product excellence and to protect brand equity. The Director will lead and influence a high-performing team responsible for promoting and facilitating a product integrity process across multiple disciplines of Safety, Regulatory, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Management to assure product quality meets or exceeds governmental, enterprise, and customer expectations of requirements and performance. Accountable for process that enables products to be launched in test or full scale in stores and online. This person will collaborate with internal resources and our base of supply to ensure product integrity and articulate risk across product development process.
Leadership Competency
- Demonstrated ability to lead direct reports, as well as, influence partners on projects, initiatives and timelines
- Fosters cross-functional relationships to ensure product launches and projects are carried through completion effectively and with high execution
- Ability to effectively communicate vertically and horizontally across multiple business units
- Ability to make decisions within a condensed timeframe based on gathering logic and facts
- Ability to work with great urgency through high pressure problem solving
- Serve as key advisor and content expert with cross-functional teams and in leadership meetings
Technical Competency
- Responsible for overseeing regulatory aspects of the product compliance process related to vendor conformance and raw material compliance.
- Key interface with 3rd party manufacturers and technical teams in support over all product compliance.
- Performs compliance and business risk analysis establishing recommendations to cross functional partners and NBO Leadership
- Accountable for mid to long term capacity and priority planning for future state
- Budget management & full accountability
- Accountable for planning, selecting and maintaining relationship with 3rd party contract service providers related to safety science
- Accountable for assuring global product readiness and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide oversight to scale up in base of supply in support of new business and provide risk-based assessment as required
- Lead overall strategy for new project risk assessment (product, design, package, etc) to evaluate risks and initiate contingency plans.
- Foster a culture of quality management across business process and product integrity
- Lead problem solving efforts and direct team as necessary to reach quick conclusion
- Provides support as needed to BBW's commercial business unit
Vendor Performance
- Provide technical guidance to contract manufacturing operations.
- Align goals of NBO to base of supply that supports business strategy
Talent Management & Development
- Ability to manage team of full-time direct reports; as well as contractors and interns as needed
- Manage the full life cycle of talent initiatives including the recruiting, onboarding and retention of team members with emphasis on the following:
o Performance management of direct reports, responsible for providing development, coaching & feedback
o Actively drive to develop and retain high performers within team
o Thought partner and implementation of Success Planning & Talent Calibrations
- Driving process improvement within team


- 10+ years' work experience in consumer product supply chain in Engineering, Regulatory, Safety and / Quality Management
- Experience in manufacturing and/or consumer goods/retail preferred
- Prior people management experience with demonstrated ability to develop and coach high performing talent
- Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges with ability to influence the business at all levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated initiative and ability to achieve results
- Ability to build and foster strong trusted advisor relationships with internal and external partners
- Ability to work and lead independently
- Strong understanding of vertically integrated retail operations
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiating and influencing skills
- Ability to lead and inspire with unquestionable integrity and trust
- MS Office - proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint
