Job description

The Director Trade Marketing is responsible for leading and coordinating the efforts of all brand strategies in the sales division. The Director Trade Marketing is responsible for supporting the achievement of category sales objectives by providing marketing strategies and action steps, analytics and insights to the customer teams. The individual will be responsible for delivering the best in class strategies and market place approaches to maximize business results while increasing market share and growth within the category. The Director Trade Marketing is accountable for overseeing the development of category strategic trade plans aligned with marketing objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ownership and delivery of compelling category growth story for respective category / brand
- Management and direction of Trade Marketing team supporting the business categories assigned
- Reinforcing the category platform, based on customer, consumer and buyer insights, designed to enhance the customer team's ability to maximize growth and share with customers
- Aligning goals, roles, responsibilities and protocols within the Trade Marketing Team and across the broader customer team
- Serving as the primary liaison between the customer and marketing teams for all sales strategy issues
- Provide active support to the customer sales teams to enable the achievement of sales and profit plans for the customers on all products within the assigned group
- Oversee from start to finish the new item sales plans with the sales teams
- Leading the development and delivery of the product, placement, pricing and promotion , and business planning process within the assigned category
- Building and leveraging relationships with senior level cross functional counterparts including promotion, trade strategy, marketing and research
- Fulfilling responsibility for human and financial resource deployment decisions across categories and compliance to sales policies
- Leading the talent and performance management of reporting staff, while identifying and developing top potential individuals who can fill the succession planning needs of the company in the future, including alignment of goals, roles and responsibilities and protocols within the team and broader department, and career development of the team members
- Developing and implementing industry-leading strategy with senior decision makers at both the customer and company, that enhance business results and operational effectiveness
- Penetrating top marketing, the merchandising department management, analytical customer decision makers and all other necessary customer contacts impacting the product group for which they are responsible
- Serve as the focal point for the creation of impactful trade programs that are consistent with the brand's overall strategies, budget and profit targets
- Responsible for the efficient utilization of trade funds to achieve brand/company goals and growth in sales and market share
- Participate in the development of brand strategy, marketing plans and financial LE's
- Provide tracking and evaluation of trade spending utilization and effectiveness
- Provide feedback on new item performance versus objectives
- Own development and execution of all customer specific promotional programs


4 year degree; advanced degree a plus
5+ years prior experience in consumer package goods sales environment, in addition to 4+ years in management, customer marketing and trade marketing experience, and or direct selling experience to a significant national retailer
