Job Description This position is remote to start and a global role. Plans and directs the Occupational Safety Compliance, Behavior Based Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics programs and activities globally within ELC encompassing all brands, regions, and functions globally. This position provides leadership, expertise, support, direction, and assistance in all safety program matters and ensures that all ELC brands, regions, and functions are in compliance with all applicable laws and conform to the corporate Environmental and Safety Management System (ESMS) requirements. This position also sets clearly defined occupational safety, behavior-based safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomic program goals. Job Responsibilities Innovates, plans, and leads programs and protocols in all areas of occupational safety, behavior-based safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics on a global basis. Defines protocols that standardizes these programs and processes across all brands, regions, and functions. Directs, manages, and maintains the regulatory oversight for all ELC brands, regions, functions globally. This includes regular monitoring of local, national, and international regulatory requirements for changes and developing and implementing programs to sustain compliance. This position partners with the Audit Program lead to support safety program compliance internal audits and provides guidance on non-conformances and best industry practices. Interfaces directly with Value Chain and Commercial management at the Brand President/GM/SVP/VP/ED level to implement projects and initiatives within their timeline at ELC locations globally. Leads the development and administration of global safety program compliance glidepath and initiates priority programs. Leads, coordinates, and supervises a staff of EHS professionals in technical and complex projects to achieve department, division, and corporate goals. Defines protocols that standardize process for programs and procedures across the Value Chain and Commercial operations. Partners with the COE to drive global employee education, engagement, and program awareness across the discipline. Serves as a technical expert to the Global EHS&S department in occupational safety program compliance. Leads and coordinates the services of external consultants to support occupational safety, behavior-based safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics programs globally. Expert advisor on implementation initiatives to meet regulatory mandates. In this capacity provides an assessment of the impact of a change in regulation / regulatory status of a process or facility, deadlines/regulatory implementation dates, and impact including determining status of change as either immediate or phase in depending upon the issue. SME for all health & safety activities globally. Oversees staff to perform comprehensive EHS reviews of all chemicals brought into ELC. Evaluate chemicals for potential employee exposure risk and provide determination of safety. Works with Value Chain departments to remove chemicals that are unsafe from potential use globally. Provides EHS site regulatory assessments on potential acquisitions and store leases by reviewing supplied technical information such as historical records, drawings, fire protection specifications, previous property use, hazardous materials storage etc. to determine the regulatory/safety impact and liability as a part of the overall corporate assessment. Participates in the selection of staff and interns. Educates, supervises, and mentors staff to build core competencies, leadership, technical EHS competencies, and managerial skills. Partners with the COE and Sustainability pillars for the collection of program metrics for the Value Chain and Commercial functions.


Qualifications/Requirements University degree required. Master's or equivalent preferred Minimum 10 years' experience Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required, or another global equivalent e.g. NEBOSH, CRSP Advanced knowledge in occupational safety programs acquired through education and training as well as through experience, preferably multiple years of experience in a manufacturing, distribution, research and development, retail facility or similar environment. Ability to understand and communicate technical safety program requirements and to lead and execute regional and global strategies within a multi-disciplinary team to meet requirements. Experience in managing a multi-location operational organization is required. Ability to work well in a dynamic and complex environment Ability to coach and develop others with demonstrated strong leadership abilities. Must be technically organized, have excellent follow-up skills as well as interpersonal skills to present information in manners which are usable based on a variety of audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to interact and interface with all levels of the organization Advanced project management skills with attention to detail Ability to meet tight deadlines. Skilled at setting priorities & reassessing in response to changing project demands
