Job Description
Since 1901, Nordstrom has been committed to providing customers with the best possible service and experience in fashion. We have a relentless drive to exceed customer expectations. We continue to grow and evolve to remain the best in the eyes of our customers. Our goal is to be the best fashion retailer in a digitally connected world. Our HR function is at the core of transforming the employee experience to support this goal.
Nordstrom is looking for an HR Director for our Supply Chain business. This is a unique role that will combine HR Business Partner leadership with designing and implementing large scale transformation programs within our network of Fulfillment and Distribution Centers across the country. The role will be responsible for designing new strategies and practices in the areas of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, employee listening and engagement, talent development and pipeline strategies and more.

Job description

A day in the life...

  • Lead the design and implementation of transformation initiatives related to the employee experience that support the organization's short/long term business strategies. You will proactively identify issues and opportunities that contribute to organizational success and provide solutions and recommendations. You will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of HR processes and programs, and continually explore opportunities for improvements in all areas. You will provide thought leadership, make key decisions on critical issues and drive results.
  • Leverage deep technical knowledge in HR topics such as leadership development, change management, diversity and inclusion, learning and more to provide consultation and leadership to the business on a variety of initiatives.
  • Possess a strong understanding of key business levers and what successful operations look like in an FC/DC environment - understanding both the employee and business policies and practices to ensure they are aligned and working in harmony.
  • Demonstrate a high level of comfort and proficiency analyzing and synthesizing data and bringing it forward in a consumable way that drives clear direction and outcomes. Clearly articulate problem sets, conduct root cause analysis and communicate data and insights at all levels of the organization regarding the problem set and possible paths to resolution.
  • Partner with communications to design short and long-term communications strategies that support transformation efforts and effectively equip leaders to deliver key messages and connect those messages to the bigger picture.
  • Demonstrate strong experience partnering with specialists to build effective recruiting and total rewards strategies and programs with large hourly populations in a business that requires significant ramps up and down to support peak business cycles.
  • Ability to define project vision and strategy in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring goals and success metrics are clearly defined and roles and responsibilities across the program team are clear. Demonstrate ownership of full project lifecycle: set project expectations, build plan to meet project goals, drive leadership of project team, guide project milestones and deliverables to ensure momentum according to scope and schedule, effectively communicate to key partners and stakeholders through the life of the project
  • Effectively build relationships and partner with a variety of stakeholders and partners from across the HR function and the business to deliver outcomes.
  • Play an active role as a leader within the HR community, strengthening the business acumen and analytical knowledge of the HR organization at all levels, increasing our capabilities to make value added recommendations and drive successful change.
