The IT Manager II is responsible for leading projects that apply new or existing technologies and solutions to solve business needs. Works with the IT and business management teams to define overall technical direction. Partners with the business to determine system needs, influencing and guiding the change process from concept to implementation. Coordinates the efforts of internal and external staff, and of key business partners in the support of existing production systems and in the execution of new system projects. Serves as a functional and/or technical expert in one or more disciplines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leads a cohesive team of highly trained professionals, external technical experts and key IT partners and coordinates their efforts in the support of existing and future distribution center production systems, and in the execution of new technology or infrastructure projects, ensuring that:
o Solutions are designed or purchased that meet the defined distribution center requirements, and that they execute efficiently
o Detailed project plans are created, covering the entire life cycle, and associated project budgets
o All required user, system and support documentation is created accurately
o Projects are completed on time and on budget and anticipated benefits are achieved
- Supports new greenfield and/or repurposed distribution center facilities
o Performs design and build definition, inclusive of requirements for data center, production floor wired and wireless infrastructure, client device and MHE infrastructure support components
o Defines methodologies which ensure Ross and vendor partner solution architects are aligned with direction, solutions, milestones, and delivery models
o Provides project oversight during infrastructure build; assisting with technical competencies and delivery
o Develops staffing models for build and production support, ensuring agreed upon service level agreements are incorporated into model
- Coordinates the efforts of internal and external technical staff in the support of new and existing distribution center production systems
- Evaluates technical designs, developing alternatives, and recommending appropriate solutions
- Collaborates with others throughout IT to ensure timely and successful issue resolution
- Prepares effort estimates of technical project components
- Develops project plans

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience supporting IT systems, preferably in a distribution center environment.
- Experience implementing and/or supporting packaged solutions.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
- Technical orientation balanced by project management discipline. Able to supervise internal programmers, analysts, consultants, non-technical business resources and external vendor resources.
- Demonstrated track record managing technical application projects.
- A solid understanding of industry best practices in retail; specific demonstrated experience mapping business processes and comparing those processes to industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff remotely, across multiple time zones
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills
- Demonstrated ability to execute basic financial analysis and manage budgets
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Some travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of retail dynamics within a complex, highly integrated environment.
- Working experience with networking IOS' and command line interface, particularly Cisco
- Experience with Windows operating systems, the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and Visio
- Experience with wireless technologies
- Experience with IP Telephony architecture and operations
- Experience with data center technologies, standards and best practices
- Knowledge of BICSI standards and infrastructure structure cabling best practices
- PMP Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
