Job description

Support the Estee Lauder Corporate strategy to continue to be the global leader in prestige beauty by ensuring packaging is developed to support the values of unrivaled quality, creativity, sustainability, and innovation. Candidate should have strong skills on 3-D applications and work close with Design to validate geometry and sizes prior to Sr Management approval of concepts Responsibilities: Package Concept Feasibility This can be either to support brand package developers, senior management, or brands. With the assistance of senior development, provide a comprehensive technical feasibility of each concept as relates to or package that defines function, manufacturability, component cost, tooling estimates, tooling optimization, preliminary development lead time, risk and global consistency. Package Troubleshooting and Improvement Proactively seeks to prevents package failure by using flow mold analysis, review tool design Corporate core Team and driving DFMEA & FMEA studies. If technical failure at any stage of the development or post launch , provide technical leadership on problem solving and remediation. Failures could occur in package testing, line trials, or in the field such as a leaking package. Technical Support for package development or special projects Provide technical support. This could be supporting a non-packaging function, such as a special labeling program for a marketing group. Should be defined as technical support on any special project Project Management for package development or special projects Provide project management. This could include feasibility cost, FMEA, timeline, BOM, drawing approval by Technical Packaging, package testing, line trials, dimensional studies, specifications, and standards. An example would be increasing PCR percentage in a brand's entire packaging line. I think this is the Developer responsibility, I see the cluster eng fully involve on all Engineering and tooling aspecs of the program, supporting Developer Technical Support for Task Forces Provide technical support for ad hoc task forces. In the past this has included updating specifications, updating corporate glass development guidelines, creating shelf life determination procedures, and reducing transit damage for e-commerce. General Establish workload priorities to ensure all projects are managed within expected due dates. Drive innovation by presenting new packaging concepts, technologies, and delivery systems to support new Marketing, Product Development and Design ideas. Sustainability Search new applicable technologies both within and outside our industry to continuously evaluate best practice and support product innovation. Keep informed through colleagues, vendors, journals, professional affiliations, and seminars of new materials, processes, and procedures. Build and cultivate relationships with Global Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering Q


Education / Certification Minimum BS degree in Packaging Science or Engineering. CIPT or IOPP certification. Direct Experience 5 + years experience in cosmetic package development. Experience in beauty or related industry with proven development experience. Proficiency in computer systems including Unique Package Definition Systems, MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Timeline management systems. Technical Competency Technical competency in analysis of geometric objects in 2 and 3 dimensions including understanding of clearances, fit and finish of packaging components and subcomponents. Knowledge of materials used in the construction and manufacturing of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging including but not limited to: Injection molding. Extrusion molding. Blow molding. Metal forming. Glass forming. Vacuum forming. Assembly of components. Dispensing systems (Pump, Airless). Folding carton and rigid box design. Knowledge of decorating techniques and materials used on primary, secondary and tertiary packaging. Knowledge of test methods used to validate component/package performance.
