Job Overview Manger, Marketing Data Visualization, must have a strong understanding of business needs in the BI and reporting space as well as knowledge of BI and data visualization technology and trends. The Manger will partner with business stakeholders, the strategy team and the technology organization, to build tactical solutions, execute to various projects and initiatives and help define the evolutionary path for Data Visualization at macys.com. He/She will provide day to day end user support, building business focused solution in the area of Data Visualization, request prioritization and management, issue management, resolution, communication, and follow up. In addition, this person is responsible for managing, developing and guiding the team of report developers. This position reports to the Director, Marketing Analytics Systems. This role reports to Director, Analytic Platform and Solutions.
Essential Functions Data Visualization center of competency: - Manage the team responsible for Data Visualization report development, helping users to find ways to answer key business questions with Data Visualization, development of training materials and train users on new product features, support business users and manage close-loop feedback cycles to encompass customer/user comments and needs into better product experience. - Engaging with multiple business stakeholders to understand business need for reporting and data visualization capabilities - Identify opportunities to meet business needs through reporting and visual information presentation - Own the Data Visualization solution discovery process (get assistance from team members to flush out detailed requirements). - Collaborate with the business, user experience and engineering teams during discovery to identify solution to the business need - Present and clearly articulate solution options to key stakeholders - Developing the Marketing Systems short, mid and long term data visualization roadmap - Deliver end user facing solution components (reports, dashboards, UI interfaces) - Prioritizing, designing and implementing enhancements and fixes - As it pertains to data visualization and reporting tool set, manage relationships with 3rd party tool and internal (IT) solution providers, identifying necessary and/or desirable features; as needed evaluating and selecting vendors, and managing rollout. - Manage dependencies on other teams and secure necessary engagement / resource alignment for the creation of co-developed products - Engage frequently with engineering and project management during implementation; be available to quickly answer questions that arise during implementation and to make scope tradeoff decisions. - Work closely with Technology, Marketing and the Business to deliver solutions and ensure their adoption. - Coordinate post-launch activities to validate that the product works as designed and that operational processes dependent on the feature successfully complete acceptance testing - Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality Manage and cultivate a team focused on delivery: - Lead a team and provide direction, guidance and priority - Ensure individual career growth goals are being met - Leading a team, prioritizing tasks and encouraging individual career growth/happiness - Define, track and improve key team metrics
Qualifications and Competencies Education Requirements Min/Preferred Education Level Description 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Master's Degree is strongly desired.
Years Of Experience Minimum Years of Experience - 4 Years Maximum Years of Experience - 8 Years Comments - Experience in one or more of the following areas: business intelligence and analytics, reporting, data modeling data consulting
Competencies - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience - 5-8 years' experience in one or more of the following areas: business intelligence and analytics, reporting, data modeling, data consulting. - Expertise in BI and Analytics tools, marketing and technologies experience is strongly preferred. - Hands on expert level experience with building reports in Tableau is a must. Familiarity with other Data Visualization / reporting tools are strongly preferred. - Familiarity with cloud platform such as Google Cloud Platform is preferred, - Demonstrate ability to manage team efforts to achieve project success. - Finely tuned attention to detail and well organized. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to assure common understanding and timely problem-solving. - 3-5 years' experience managing direct reports. - Usability and customer-focused design experience a plus. - Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems. - Ability to operate in areas of uncertainty and ambiguity. - Experience with customer data management is preferred. - Internet and retail experience strongly preferred
