Are you interested in joining a growing team with the largest off-price retailer? The Manage of Merchandise Flow is accountable for managing the Inbound Flow component of the Merchandise Flow team for our Marshalls and TJ Maxx Divisions, in order to meets the needs of the business and support fluidity in the overall supply chain. You will work directly and collaboratively with key stakeholders (merchandising, planning, logistics, distribution services, and finance) to achieve alignment of the Supply Chain with the business model and business priorities. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing and implementing new strategies, processes and analytics and develop tools/programs to support every-changing business needs!

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for identifying, analyzing and performing cross-functional projects directly influencing the growth of sales and profitability in our Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores!

  • Runs the creation of analytical methodologies to resolve optimal timing and volume of spend. Responsible for making observations/recommendations based on these analyses which ultimately drive the decision making process.

  • Oversees and sets the strategy for the integrity of just in time flow plans, including early and late receipt management.

  • Communicates business risk to buying and planning teams.

  • Leads change and improvements throughout Planning & Merchandising and the Supply Chain.

  • Builds relationships and finds opportunities with various business functions (Logistics, Distribution Centers, Planning and Merchandising) to better handle and improve the accurate receipt and flow of merchandise.

  • Leading numerous ad hoc projects as they arise (ex: liability monitoring, type 1 placements, early/late assessments)

  • Makes weekly spend recommendations that align with business strategies and support optimal timing of inbound. Accountable to facilitate conversations (within P&A, Merchandising, DCs, Finance and Logistics) to ensure that spend goals align with the eventual outbound flow desires of P&A.

  • Supports merchandising sales and profit goals. Continually reviews and sets the vision for improvements of Spend allocation process by developing effective relationships with GMMs, MMs and buyers to understand, plan for Inbound Flow that aligns with idea outbound flow and sales achievement.

  • Advocate for, and subsequently builds an Inbound Flow Team that can continue to expand their capacity to provide guidance and understanding to business partners on idea timing of placements and dating. Continue to develop tools that are easily adopted and consistently used to aid in decision making.


  • Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Strong understanding of (retail) financial analysis techniques.

    • Deep knowledge of the Planning and Merchandising process.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility in dealing with senior management.

    • Advanced PC skills (Excel, Word, etc.)

    • Strong management skills.


    • Minimum experience required to perform this job.

      • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience

      • Bachelor's Degree required

      • Must have a good understanding of the buy all the way through the selling floor to ensure plans support all partners (Merchants, Planners, DCs, and Stores)

      • Finance experience (analytics, data, etc) is desirable

      • Supply Chain experience desirable

      • Must have broad based supply chain knowledge (Vendor, Transportation, Distribution and Stores)

      • Team management experience
