JOB MISSIONThe Merchandise Planner will take a proactive approach to drive growth to achieve company financial plans, maximize sales, gross profit, inventory turns and minimize markdowns for retail stores, or eCommerce. Manage the open buy for specific categories by analyzing financial trends, marketing, and customer demand. The Merchandise Planner will participate in merchandising strategy meetings and apply expertise to improve process and execution.MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Build preseason financial sales, gross margin and inventory plans at a daily/weekly/monthly level based on company division budget forecasts
- Reforecast quarterly based on financial trends, marketing, customer demand and new developments in the business
- Maintain the open to buy report by forecasting sales, gross margin and inventory turn by week/month/department/class level. Communicate business performance, risks and opportunities to the buying team in monthly meetings
- Quantify in-season risks and opportunities at the department, class and model level with recommendations to the buying and leadership teams
- Build and develop relationships with cross functional teams to achieve financial results for area of responsibility
- Effectively communicate and present to peers and leadership the merchandise strategies, insights and action plans
- Update weekly/monthly business summaries to report the status of the business and recommendations on the current trends, risks and opportunities
- Assist in reporting and analysis for senior leaders
- Attend weekly business meetings to discuss business trends and analysis
