Job description

The DC Operations Manager works in our distribution center and is responsible for managing all operations within the facility while maintaining a strong on-floor presence. The DC Operations Manager is accountable for maintaining productive and cost-effective operations, ensuring employee safety, driving continuous improvement, overseeing building maintenance, and maintaining Union relations. This role also works closely with various support departments in the execution of company business, including Human Resources, IT, etc.
Daily duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Oversee all Operations activities within the distribution center
- Assist and support the Director and VP of Distribution
- Efficiently maintain the daily receiving, order processing, and shipping activities, as well as working down any order backlogs
- Work with and manage departmental supervisors to manage daily operations (Receiving, Picking, Packing, Shipping, etc.), inventory control and assure optimal productivity
- Training supervisors on new and alternative methods of efficiency
- Manage employee productivity, quality assurance and work safety programs
- Serve as liaison between Management and employees
- Work with IT and Maintenance to solve any technical or mechanical problems that may arise
- Manage manpower needs to ensure proper staffing in all departments and scheduling temporary support when needed
- Engages and motivates team members, ensuring proper training and coaching
- Open and close the building as needed
On a daily basis, the Operations Manager maintains optimal building performance through on-floor presence by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing company programs, personnel policies and operational procedures. At all times, they ensures full compliance with all operational and financial guidelines and customer requirements, enforces adherence to those requirements, and advises management on needed actions. Partners with security to safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring loss prevention procedures and protocols. Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy and control through physical counts and inventory reconciliations. The Operations Manager is accountable for achieving building production goals and delivering all Month and Quarter-end objectives through effective management and assignment of employees and temporary staffing. To ensure optimal team performance, the manager engages employees and works to ensure full training, consistent coaching, and regular follow-ups on work results, initiating corrective action steps when necessary. Regularly motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded. Maintains professional and technical knowledge, as well as a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to the achievement of that vision. The Operations Manager also contributes to Distribution and Company team efforts by taking on and successfully executing related special projects as needed.


- Minimum 10 years of experience in managing large teams and multiple departments within a distribution environment
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, etc. is a plus
- Experience with Wholesale distribution and ensuring full compliance with customer requirements/agreements
- Retail and/or Direct-to-Consumer fulfillment experience
- Experience with managing and working with a Union workforce
- Experience with WMS systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proven ability to motivate team members and drive continuous improvement
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional partners and lead network initiatives
- Willingness to work extended days and weekends as business needs require
