Job description

Purpose: The Operations Manager is a member of the Distribution Center management team. They will oversee the operations of a specific functional area within Operations by consistently analyzing and improving the area's systems and procedures to increase efficiency while maintaining safety and the quality of deliverables. They will work to continuously optimize our DC operations by engaging with various stakeholders to improve operational metrics, refine processes, and remove waste from operations. This individual will be a strong, engaging, and inclusive leader with the ability to effectively manage associates and leaders with varying levels of experience. The position requires someone who can work both autonomously and collaboratively in a demanding and often ambiguous environment with strong attention to detail and effective prioritization.
- Inspiring and motivating employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives
- Carry out supervisory/managerial responsibilities in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws.
- Mentor, train, coach, and develop direct reports for career progression and learning. Promote labor sharing and cross training.
- Oversees KPIs and reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics - Identify trends and assess opportunities to improve processes and execution
- Raises and tracks issues and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve issues of medium complexity involving stakeholders and escalate to appropriate level when required.
- Ensure associates have a safe and clean work environment (housekeeping) and any unsafe acts, accidents, or injuries are immediately reported and proper policies and procedures are followed.
- Establishes and maintains credible, professional relationships with internal support teams, customers, and external vendors
- Coordinating different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunities
- Increase quality of service to internal customers
- Plays a significant role in long-term planning, project status reporting, and implementing change control processes to create initiatives that further the operation and company's overall goals
- Assessing and analyzing departmental forecasts and budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and optimize profits

- Carry out daily priorities as directed by the Sr. Manager. Key Relationships:
- Operations personnel
- Department heads and management to include but not limited to Sourcing, Receiving, Shipping, Distribution and Production Operations, Planning & Purchasing, Finance, and Customer Service Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Technical skills: the ability to perform the tasks inside area of responsibility - Human relations skills: the ability to work with and through people
- Effective leader that can lead a team of supervisors that may have limited people management experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to effectively and efficiently interact with associates and senior DC leadership team
- Ability to bridge strategic, tactical and operational business concepts and developments by applying an end-to-end Global mindset - Administrative skills: ability to plan, organize, and coordinate
- Ability to assess priorities and accept and meet critical deadlines with good planning and organization skills
- Conceptual skills: ability to obtain, interpret, and apply information needed to make sound decisions
- Strong analytical and data manipulation skills. Proficient use of Microsoft office applications (Prefer Intermediate Excel skills)
- Must be highly motivated and possess the ability to work independently with limited supervision in a high-volume/energy environment

Profile

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field. Will consider equivalent experience
- Five (5) years minimum related management experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment. Experience motivating and leading a contingent workforce
- Strong experience with managing complex Distribution Center operations and leading process improvement projects
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required
