Job description

The Customer Experience Product Management team at Gap Inc. is responsible for creating a best in class digital brand experience for its portfolio of specialty apparel brands; Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, Gap Factory, Banana Republic Factory and Intermix. Your work will impact millions of people worldwide who love our iconic brands. We partner with business leaders and a global engineering team to build custom software that powers a $16 billion Fortune 500 apparel retailer. Our proprietary, multi-brand digital platform of product information drives the web, mobile, and in-store experiences which continue to evolve to meet our customers’ needs. We’re looking for someone to join our Catalog team to drive product vision of our NextGen, modernized API omni-channel platform to unlock customer experiences and faster speed to market for new features. We’re looking for someone with a passion for technology and the power of API’s, an innovative curiosity for how data flows work, and a track record of building new retail experiences. The top challenge for the team is balancing new development velocity with product API consistency and improving the architecture to handle the scale of our online, mobile and store digital transactions.The Catalog Services Product Manager will work with stakeholders from the business, digital marketing and other product owners to identify problems to be solved, quantify the value in solving them, and determine how those problems can be solved via technology. You will consult with domain architects, development teams, store operations teams, and then partner with software engineering teams to deliver technology solutions which continuously improve the shopping experiences for our external customers while also providing enhanced capabilities for internal business partners.We’re seeking a strong technical problem solver with a track record of product innovation, leading complex projects independently and prioritizing features, bug fixes and technical debt to ensure the health and stability of our Product Data Platform.What you'll do
- Partner with technology or business stakeholders to set and track business goals for strategic initiatives
- Prioritize a clear and objective road-map and agile backlog while balancing delivery requirements with technical trade-offs and the impact of tech debt
- Constantly analyze the performance of our API’s, seeking ways to improve the speed of our website and APIs whilst never compromising the availability of our platform
- Identify new opportunities and develop business cases for future projects
- Highlight progress through regular updates and product reviews
- Drive certainty when presented with ambiguity

Profile

- BS/BA required, MBA a plus
- 3-4 years experience in product management-related roles and activities; must have owned the creation or modification of key technology capabilities / product areas
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing API products, ideally for ecommerce or other consumer-centric technology company
- Demonstrated technical acumen; ability to influence and debate solutions with technical team members, to understand technology solutions and potential tradeoffs and to represent technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Data-driven mindset and track record of owning, managing and optimizing API KPI’s
- Enjoyment of understanding complex logic and process of interconnected data flows throughout business work-stream
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to business leaders at all levels to influence key stakeholders across organizations
