Job description

JOB MISSION:

New Balance is currently seeking a highly motivated, retail savvy Product Owner to join our DTC Global Retail Technology team. The Product Owner will play a critical role in driving the execution of several initiatives key to our digital ambition. This role is responsible for delivering initiatives with in-store and OMNI channel enablement. Product delivery involves defining functionality, valuing requirements, managing backlogs, creating product roadmaps surrounding OMNI enablement product and working closely with others in the omni space. This Product Owner serves as the everyday point of contact and partner with both 3rd party vendors and cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class retail experiences globally.

The role will be someone who truly gets the business context and works to understand things from the customer's point of view. Someone who will know the details and not be afraid to action tasks to completion while influencing stakeholders to do the same. The Product Owner will be empowered to execute and work directly with management to remove barriers. Finally, the Product Owner will ensure all initiatives will align with New Balance's brand and digital strategic direction.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Gains a thorough understanding of stakeholder needs and uses that knowledge to help deliver global retail products that provide New Balance customers and associates with an unparalleled experience.
  • Translates business goals and end-user needs into a product strategy, communicates direction, and product priorities to 3rd-party partners and other matrixed teams.
  • Identifies goals, metrics, and analytics to determine product value; continually making recommendations and refinements to the product backlog based on information gathered.
  • Conducts research with business and stakeholders to help identify initiatives creating EPICS and breaking those down into user stories.
  • Ensures the product is aligned with company, stakeholder, and end-user priorities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Documents, reviews, and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met.
  • Formulates, tests, and refines assumptions and hypotheses through user research and testing.
  • Identifies pros, cons, issues, obstacles, dependencies, and value associated with the product.
  • Creates comprehensive documentation regarding initiatives, changes, and enhancements made to the in-store transactions and OMNI channel product areas.
  • Fosters collaboration within and outside teams and vendors to collectively identify and resolve impediments.
  • Advocates for the end user and stakeholder by empathizing with and understanding user needs and becoming the product expert.
  • Continuously assess progress, disseminate lessons learned, and understand next steps.
  • Manages cross-functional team and stakeholder expectations to execute on product strategy and roadmap; provides education to requestors to determine prioritization based on highest priority benefits.
  • Exhibits active listening, facilitates sessions, and clearly communicates at all levels (Executive Leadership Team, Store Associates, etc.)

Profile

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working as a product manager, business analyst, or product owner within Retail, Retail Technology, OMNI Channel, and/or E-commerce
  • Experience working with OMS (Order Management Systems) is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, strong attention to detail, and ability to multitask/prioritize workload
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic approach to problem resolution as well as the ability to develop and communicate sound options to build a solid product roadmap
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, design, project management, and outside vendor counterparts to deliver products/services and solutions
  • Ability to be decisive in ambiguous situations and help to remove ambiguity for a clear direction
  • Resilient, collaborative, flexible, innovative, positive attitude
  • Experience using Atlassian tools within an agile environment preferred
