Job description

Reporting to the Director CRM Analytics & Operations, the successful candidate will primarily focus on driving business results through the development and execution of advanced analytics and data science. She/he will support the Hudson's Bay business unit grow topline profitability through promotion and marketing effectiveness and optimization. This role will build, test and validate models by leveraging a variety of data sources and then oversee efforts to productionize and operationalize these into existing/new processes. As a member of the larger analytics team, the role will help to enable the delivery of best of breed analytics, campaign management, measurement of all-channel and multi-touch marketing promotions and the provision of customer centric recommendations. The ability to think strategically about customer and business challenges and proactively propose solutions will be critical to the candidate's success. Forward thinking is the key to this role as new technologies and opportunities present themselves.

You Also Have:
A bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Marketing or a quantitative field like Economics, Mathematics or Statistics.
3 to 5 years of experience in marketing analytics, data mining, data science and database marketing.
Hands on experience with command-line statistical analysis software (e.g. SAS or R) or with a high-level programming language (e.g. Python, VB, etc..) and familiarity with Hive/Hadoop environments for data and proven ability to drive efficiencies through automation
Comfort moving between strategic business objectives and consumer-centric data needs and solutioning them with IT
Needs to be able to think like a marketer/vendor while solutioning data layer to enable a variety of personalization use cases/marketing strategies.
Specifically, needs the following skillsets:
Programming: Proficiency with command-line statistical analysis software (e.g. SAS or R) or with a high-level programming language (e.g. C++, Java, Python, SQL, VB, etc), including familiarity with multiple database technologies, working with Hive/Hadoop and comfort working in ever changing data technology landscape
Out of the Box Thinking: Proven ability to translate business problems into smaller analytical problems and seeking out the data necessary to sufficiently answer the question/guide next steps using data and insights. Ability to customize data science choices and outcomes to business -recognizing the variability and complexity of business and store operations - should be comfortable with '80-20' output to drive meaningful, actionable business results.
Project Management: Strong attention to detail, willingness to wear multiple hats, building and tracking a work plan in a fast-based environment, working with Data Engineering and cross-functional teams with competing priorities.
Working experience with Unica Campaign or other campaign management tools an asset.
Experience in retail, financial, or other consumer based industries is an asset.
As The Senior Analyst, CRM, You Will:
Development of analytical models using advanced statistics, data science techniques using HBC owned analytic tools as well as open source technologies
Key consultant to the analytics team on adoption and experimentation of new modeling algorithms that may be appropriate for their specific projects
Build new analytic capabilities for Hudson's Bay by translating business needs into analytic use cases and sourcing necessary data to deliver actionable outcomes
Business liaison translating complex analytical frameworks into business friendly findings and recommendations that drive adoption
Participates in key strategic discussions in the capacity of a thought partner and provides analyses and insights to aid data driven decision making
Key contributor to defining the analytics data requirements roadmap
Generate ad-hoc reports/customer profiles and conduct analysis based on various models/segments to support strategic initiatives
Subject matter expert on all data/database technologies, advanced statistical models/data science techniques and analytic technology
Keep up to date with technological advancements and open source adoption in the data science industry
Subject matter expert on the data sources contained in the customer database and how they can be leveraged to address business challenges and opportunities
Manage project assignments and documentation, including definition of project scope, deliverables and timelines
Participate in the strategic development of system capabilities within advanced analytics and modeling, data mining and database marketing.
