Columbia Sportswear Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Strategy. Advancing traditional Finance & Accounting functions, the organization is also driving exciting innovation in the application of advanced analytics and automated intelligence.

The Senior Director, International Finance is a key leader within the company with oversite responsibilities over all finance functions in the Asia retail locations (Japan, Korea, and China). The role will provide strong decision support for the Asia General Managers and implement key financial strategies and initiatives to build, grow and expand the Asia businesses, including driving the countries to exceed financial commitments, enhancing, and supporting FP&A and Controllership culture, being the business partner with a Growth Mindset driving functional transformation and building, training, and retaining a strong finance team.


  • Controlling Management: In this role you will ensure the controlling of operational costs to partner efficiently with the business and exceed financial targets; ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and accounting for operations; and maintain strong internal control over these activities and direct corrective actions in the event of a deficiency.
  • FP&A Leadership: You will direct the financial planning processes such as forecast, budget and long-range planning. Approve processes to monitor, analyze and report on performance against the plan to all levels of management and provide recommendations to take corrective actions to deal with performance difference. Ensures financial rigor is applied in making all significant business decisions and that executive management is well informed of the financial impact of such decisions to the company's profitability.
  • Efficiency and Continuous Improvement: You will support the evaluation, continuous improvement, and implementation of accounting/finance system capabilities in the regions, including rollouts of global systems and processes. Partner with the Project Enablement team and local resources to help make and execute on decisions around future technology upgrades.
  • Decision Making Support: You will support executive decision making by providing objective financial input, serving as a critical thinker, and recommending appropriate courses of action.
  • Strategy Management: You will facilitate initiative management process partnering with initiative sponsors and project managers in reviewing business cases and related materials, including key financial and strategic performance metrics to assist in evaluating performance against strategic, operating and budget plans.
  • Business Partner: You will serve as a value-added business partner interacting and providing financial insights throughout the company's business. Maintain positive open lines of communication to contribute to the smooth flow of information and the efficient operation of the organization.
  • Local Laws and Requirements: You will ensure the regions are compliant with local accounting and tax laws while maintaining adequate internal control over these activities. Safeguard the company assets, specifically around cash, inventory, accounts receivable and property, plant, and equipment. Evaluate and manage risk as it relates to the region's reserves.
  • People Management: You will direct, coach, challenge, and support Finance Directors to perform their responsibilities in the most efficient way, considering strategic and operational priorities. Set personal goals and objectives, drives continued individual professional development and engages managers to succeed as the function site leader: in collaboration with local HR and GM, ensures positive social climate and consistent management practices between regions and global directives. Drives the region towards a culture of excellence of service.

  • Customer Focused: You are known for making customers and their needs a primary focus. You actively seek information to understand customers' circumstances, problems, expectations and needs. Respond quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems.

  • Minimum of 15 years progressive management experience in accounting, finance, or relevant discipline
  • CPA required; Big 4 experience preferred
  • Prior experience working in a global consumer goods/retail organization
  • Multi-national and SEC reporting company experience and retail and consumer products industry preferred
  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated understanding of how organizations exceed profitability targets
  • Ability to manage in a matrixed organization, including ability to effectively build and manage relationships and influence others at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to express ideas and opinions to all levels of personnel, including management in various business units, while effectively soliciting cooperation to accomplish tasks and challenge ideas and the status quo
  • Ability to analyze, design, implement and improve cross-functional business and internal control processes
  • Ability to mentor and develop finance talent
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
