Job description

Macy's is launching an online Marketplace and we are seeking a Senior, Marketplace Seller Acquisition & Business Development who will support launching and growing a Marketplace that accelerates Macy's Inc. Fashion and Style leadership ambitions. This entrepreneurial role will require strong communication and analytical skills to identify, source, and secure long-lasting partnerships with new Marketplace sellers at Macy's and Bloomingdale's. Internally, this individual will report to the Director of Marketplace Seller Acquisition & Business Development and work closely with Digital, Merchandising, and other cross-functional partners across the enterprise to execute the growth strategy for Marketplace, pre and post-launch. Externally, this role will be responsible for recruiting high-priority sellers that fit within our Marketplace curation strategy. The Senior will have the opportunity to be one of the first hires on the rapidly growing Marketplace team and will directly contribute to scaling a cutting-edge business, starting from its launch.
Essential Functions
- Support the Director, Marketplace Seller Acquisition & Business Development in ensuring successful execution of the Marketplace growth strategy.
- Recruit high-priority sellers and continuously improve the process for Marketplace seller acquisition.
- Define and measure the ways Macy's Inc. can best serve the seller community.
- Establish and execute the strategy behind the category, curation, and merchandising strategy for our Marketplace, recruiting the right set of strategic sellers to enhance Macy's Inc. customer experience.
- Partner cross-functionally to align on goals, seller strategy, and long-term strategic vision.
- Partner closely with the Merchant organization to translate merchant ambitions into executable actions through a marketplace platform.
- Drive growth strategy and plan, keeping a pulse on competitors and keeping Macy's at the forefront of marketplace strategy.
- Develop deep knowledge of the Macy's brand and customers to ensure the marketplace reflects appropriately.


- Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Possess knowledge of, and passion for, digital commerce and specifically marketplace platforms. Previous experience launching and/or scaling an online marketplace is a plus.
- Excellent communication, sales, and facilitation skills (oral, written, and listening). Ability to understand, organize, and communicate complex information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences.
- Track record of demonstrating success with sourcing partnerships.
- Customer-centric mindset and experience with cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to solve problems with internal and external stakeholders and be a self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Ability to effectively share technical information and communicate technical issues/solutions to all levels of business.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects - can identify primary and secondary objectives, prioritize tasks, and communicate informative updates to team members.
- Ability and desire to take project ownership.
- Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically.
- Bring positive energy, optimism, and passion to work every day.

- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
