The NMG Brand Programs, Senior Project Manager - Data, Insight and Analyticsrole is responsible for collecting, analyzing and presenting data to improve decision making around program priorities and enables decisions that drive business value. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic, fast paced, and growing division within Nordstrom, with an opportunity to drive value and improvements for the business through work on critical business functionalities and initiatives. You will also have exposure to senior leadership and opportunities to work with many key areas of the business and cross-functional teams. This position reports to the NMG Brand Programs - Senior Director of Program Management.

This individual has a unique blend of strategic, analytic and collaboration skills with demonstrated experience in taking ideas from vision to execution blending relationship management, program management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive to aligned outcomes. This role requires an individual comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, dealing with ambiguity, engaging stakeholders in a productive, positive way and setting the course for the business to help drive Nordstrom growth.

A day in the life:

  • Write, execute and code review SQL queries to collect data from databases
  • Create and automate reporting and insights at scale to inform and influence business decisions
  • Partner with Product Management and Data Engineering to deliver highly effective BI analysis
  • Manage multiple project inputs simultaneously in a rapidly changing environment
  • Understand and anticipate problems and move to solve them quickly
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure project outcomes align with program priorities and direction
  • Prepare materials to democratize data and insights as you strive to deliver tools to your partners and enable them to make better decisions quicker
  • Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and roadblocks for technical and non-technical business stakeholders
  • Support other program initiatives, as needed
You own this if you have...

  • Bachelors or master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or business analytics (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Analyst, analyzing complex data, drawing conclusions and making recommendations
  • 2+ years of experience building and automating business tools and reporting in a major BI platform, preferably MicroStrategy and Tableau
  • 2+ years of experience strong coding skills in at least one statistical or programming language (e.g. R, Python) to import, process, summarize and analyze data
  • 2+ years of experience working with large data sets in enterprise cloud databases, data warehouses or big data systems using SQL programming and query optimization
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and think big picture
  • Strong problem-solving skills, time management, and both oral and written communication skills
  • Strong people skills - effective communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new skills
  • Strong interest in retail and understanding of fashion merchandising preferred
