Title: Sr. Art Director, Womens
Reports to: SVP - Madewell Brand Creative
Location: New York Office
Overview:
Looking for an Art Director possessing strong concept and design skills with an elevated aesthetic. The candidate will be responsible for seasonal and monthly art & design concepts with a focus on campaign ideation and storytelling across Madewell channels. Brand experience across social, store, print, site and email all fall into the candidate's remit where visual tone and cohesion is key across streams. Assuring concept and design is engaging, relevant and inspiring. The Art Director will be tasked with creating and presenting clear and concise deks for seasonal content and shoots and executing against brand needs. Applicants must have a solid understanding of design principles and the Madewell aesthetic, be fast to learn what works for our customer and how to target new audiences as required. The candidate must have a sophisticated taste and be abreast of current trends in the photography, editorial and fashion world.

Responsibilities & Skills:
- Collaborate, brainstorm and deliver thoughtful cross channel ideas to and with the SVP of Brand Creative.
- The candidate will be highly competent at partnering with members of the wider Brand Creative team including, Marketing, Copywriters, Stylists, In-house Photographers, Project management and Production. Cross-functional partnership with Merchandising and Apparel Design will also be critical.
- Setting and maintaining elevated visual standards. Continue enhancing the tone & aesthetic across design and brand.
- Development of sophisticated typography treatments, three-dimensional layout design, moving image and relevant media use.
- Ability to delegate and activate concepts with the creative team with ability to communicate ideas effectively.
- Flexible team player with creative problem solving and excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills needed to excel in this role.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload, taking responsibility for personal and team deadlines.
- Creating distinction between selling and branding through concept and execution.
- Assure retouching team and colorists carry out cosmetic alterations and color accuracy for bothon-figure and still life imagery.
- Must be detail orientated.
- The candidate will need 10+ years of experience in the creative field.
- BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the role.
- Previous experience of team management in the creative environment.
- Proficiency with all standard creative programs.
