Job description

The Sr. Manager of Direct Ship is responsible for managing growth, performance, and customer-based logistics execution overseeing a team that performs transportation and deliveries to the direct ship customers, bypassing the distribution center network. The roles and responsibilities of this position include performance & KPIs Management, wholesales account interaction, forecast and planning, process improvement/streamlining, cost/CPU management and new customer on-boarding.
The Sr. Manager of Direct Ship will also be leading the team responsible for executional activities including track & trace, operational reporting, daily trouble shooting, invoicing, and finding creative solutions for storage management considering the market challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement directs and dedicated growth levers to increase the volumes of the business. Focus on bringing new customers and growing the share of directs and dedicated with the existing customers.
- Analyze and understand the growth opportunities by effectively communicating with the product supply, account operations and inbound planning teams.
- Lead direct ship team related implementation activities of 4PL implementation project.
- Lead direct ship team related implementation activities of SAP S/4 HANA implementation project.
- Assess effectiveness, develop improvement plans, streamline, and improve the processes of direct ship business.
- Implement system enhancements to eliminate manual work as much as possible.
- Define and implement business rules, SOP's, and playbooks for inbound movements of all direct ship POs from origin ports.
- Manage company KPIs related with direct ship business such as COTIF, Carrier performance, demurrage & detention and storage management.
- Nurture an inclusive and high-performing team through development, feedback, mentoring and coaching.
- Manage cost and implement cost per unit measurement of each account considering different receiving destinations.
- Support the team for business execution by organizing the team for effectiveness, helping prioritize work and being a responsive escalation contact when there is need to resolve complex problems.
Key Relationships:
- Internally: Account Operations, Product Supply, Inbound Planning Origin, Order Fulfillment, Global Operations, Finance, Sales Development
- Externally: Carriers, 4PLs, 3PL's, origin and destination teams of these entities. Local service providers, customer's truckers and DCs, customers

Profile

- Strong strategic-thinking and analytical skills
- Has proven transport/distribution industry knowledge, success and influence
- Very strong communication skills both oral and written, and strong ability to lead effective presentations
- Project management skills
- Demonstrated strengths in leadership, people management and engagement skills.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree or equivalent. MBA preferred.
- Minimum seven years in Supply Chain and/or Logistics Industry with at least 2 years working in a strategic capacity. Retail experience is a plus.
- 2 years project management experience.
