Job description

Within Security Operations, our Security Engineering team is responsible for our security tools suite. A security engineer on this Data Security team will focus on maintaining, improving and optimizing our tools. You will act as a subject matter expert to identify/recommend/implement process & technology improvements.
As a Data Security Sr. Staff Engineer, you demonstrate deep knowledge & experience in designing and implementing business functionality for your assigned platform(s) & product(s) area. You will own the technology aspect for your assigned area, leading the technical direction, partnering with architecture and security consultants, and presenting team progress alongside the Scrum Master and Product Manager. Engineers at this level can lead & deliver on assigned epics in their supported area and can actively coach and mentor engineers on your product team. You can quickly identify and resolve issues with technology and process while championing DevSecOps best practices to deliver high-quality products and services.
You will lead our efforts to protect TJX data and will focus on enhancing our encryption and key management technologies within a globally distributed systems environment. You will bring broad-based and in-depth knowledge of encryption technologies and concepts, along with experience working with complex security technologies, tools, and methodologies to be effective at TJX. You will focus primarily on design, architecture, & implementation of encryption and key management technologies in all areas of the environment including on-premise & cloud-based platforms. This will be done in parallel to the normal triage of alerts & incident escalations from our internal stakeholders.


We seek creative, security-minded professionals to provide hands-on talent and social expertise to protect TJX and its assets. You'll work with engineers, business programs, and other security professionals to adapt and improve our security posture in applications, infrastructure, and cloud modernization efforts through well-designed and broadly applied Data Security Controls.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years' experience in information security with large scale data architecture, design, testing, development, migration & integration
- 6+ years' experience with encryption & key management technologies, such as Vormetric, Thales, Gemalto, nCipher, and Azure Key Vault
- Have intimate knowledge implementing and managing encryption and key management programs.
- Operational experience with encryption key lifecycle, API's & KMIP, and PKI technologies, including design documentation, testing, upgrade, workflow automation, and complex troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to be hands on & configure policy, rule sets, automation scripts, and objects in an enterprise environment is required
- Experience in security solutions, compliance and risk assessments, and network technologies along with a keen ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Education Level: Bachelor's or Master's in relevant fields is preferred or equivalent technical experience is expected; relevant industry certifications preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred experience implementing & supporting encryption platforms such as Vormetric, Thales, Gemalto, nCipher, Ingrian, Safenet, Bitlocker
- Preferred experience in configuring security policy to protect data stored within Microsoft Azure Cloud using Azure Key Vault and KMIP
- Extensive knowledge in administration of enterprise encryption tools designed to protect data at rest, data in transit, and data in use including configuring security policies, system upgrades & technology patching
