Job description

Transportation Manager - Omni Final Mile
Working under general supervision the Transportation Manager is responsible for an extensive cross-functional partnership with various home office, finance, field, and external partners to meet the needs of the business while identifying best practices for the field associates. This position will be a key member of the Domestic Transportation leadership team. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and a highly motivated and inquisitive manager that is comfortable working in a retail environment, managing internal relationships, and numerous associates in a remote environment. He/she should have the ability to influence others with superior communication skills. The principal business outcome of this position is to meet JCPenney's Omni / Final Mile customer's service requirements through a reliable network while achieving a cost-effective solution for JCP business owners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Primary contact and resource for internal and external business vertical.
- Lead the identification, scoping, and implementation of cost / service improvements.
- Lead weekly operations meeting with carriers and home office personnel.
- Manage team comprised of 1 lead and 7 associates, develop exceptional talent, and encourage your team to challenge assumptions.
- Monitor health of network and adjust as needed to achieve reliable and cost-effective solutions.
- Builds and maintains proactive communication with Salt Lake City Accounts Payable team.
- Builds mutually beneficial business relationships improving near and long-term capabilities.

- Implements with excellenceCore Competencies & Accomplishments:
- 5 - 7 years' work experience with a preference in Transportation or Supply Chain, or in a related role
- Direct responsibility managing external transportation providers
- Prior experience managing a team of associates
- Hold a degree in Business, Economics, Logistics, or in a related field
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to build and manage a headquarters team and a remote team
- Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and driving process improvements
- Ability to dissect and determine root causes of problems and implement solutions
- Collaborative and effective in a cross-functional environment
- Continuous improvement mind set, including the ability to innovate and simplify legacy processes
- Ability to manage numerous business functions simultaneously and ensure compliance to company policies and financial guidelinesWhat you get:
