Job description

The VP, Technology Business Management is the heartbeat of the organization. S/he enables the entire IT organization by providing the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the organization has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively manage the organization and ensure financial strength and operational efficiency. This leader oversees annual planning, on-going resource planning and regulatory & audit governance. S/he runs the delivery office and the Agile COE, which is responsible for making engineering faster and higher quality across the tech organization, playing a scorekeeper and orchestrator role, and ensuring consistent measurement of engineering performance. Additionally, the VP, Technology Business Management will manage all the technology strategic suppliers ($500m+ spend) to ensure that we are getting the value for our investments.
The VP, Technology Business Management is passionate about driving a culture of excellence and accountability with experience as an organizational change agent. This leader can drive change across an organization and attract a bench of talent to help drive OCIO priorities. This individual is also interfaces with the transformation office for all IT related transformation activities including managing the overall technology transformation program.
Essential Functions
- Oversees the annual planning process ($1B) , including coordination across MTech teams, finance, HR, procurement and our business partners
- Partners with other technology leaders to facilitate demand management/ delivery office
- Helps drive overall governance for the product-centric model by managing how program-level decisions get made and when strategic governance happens (e.g., QBRs)
- Oversees the process by which the product/platforms teams work and builds and manages a team of scrum masters and agile coaches to ensure operational excellence
- Responsible for regulatory & audit governance, ensuring compliance in line with Macy's standards
- Responsible for strategic partner/vendor management, overall use of resources such as contractors, and initiation of corrective action where required
- Collaborate with finance leadership through the IT finance interface to measure and track IT spend and resource allocation, and help MTech achieve and surpass financial goals and objectives
- Works with HR in close partnership to ensure a motivated and high performance IT team that meets current customer & business demands (including workforce planning and filling talent gaps)


- BA/BS in Business, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred.
- Experience in Finance, Operations or General Management fields.
- Experience in managing geographically distributed teams preferred.
- Track record implementing and working with agile teams and are able to create opportunities for key agile roles (e.g., scrum masters, agile coaches).
- Visionary and execution driven mindset with highly developed communications skills.
- Strong leadership skills and the proven ability to drive organizational change.
- Fosters relationship with CIO and all tech leadership.
- Experience managing $1B IT budgets and their respective resource plans.
- Ability to define technology strategy and roadmaps along with setting OKRs to define success.
- Significant management experience in a digital native or start-up environment.
- Understands modern day operating models.
- Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions.
